Official Terms & Conditions for Ragdoll Kitten Adoption
Welcome to the Mountain Hollow Ragdolls Policy Hub. As ethical, registered Ragdoll breeders in Australia, we prioritise the wellbeing, health, and safe rehoming of every kitten we raise. These Terms & Conditions serve as your complete guide to our Ragdoll kitten adoption process, outlining your responsibilities as an adopter and our commitments as your trusted breeder.
Reviewing our policies is an important step before joining our waiting list or placing a reservation. This ensures that every adoption is transparent, responsible, and aligned with the high standards we uphold for our kittens and their new families.
Our Commitment as a Registered Ragdoll Cattery
Mountain Hollow Ragdolls operates with a strong focus on ethical breeding, responsible placement, and ongoing support for adopters. We follow structured breeding practices and maintain records for all queens and studs. Our breeding cats are tested for hereditary conditions such as PKD and HCM, and only healthy lines are used in our programme.
Each kitten is raised indoors, socialised from an early age, and familiar with normal household routines. Exposure to gentle handling, play, and age-appropriate stimulation helps kittens adjust comfortably to their new homes.
Kitten Reservation & Adoption Eligibility
Adopters must be at least 18 years old and able to demonstrate a stable living environment suitable for a companion animal. Mountain Hollow Ragdolls may decline an adoption if we believe the placement may not meet the kitten’s long-term welfare needs.
A non-refundable deposit is required to secure a kitten or reserve a place on the waiting list. This deposit reflects the time, administration, and holding of a kitten that would otherwise be available to another family.
Final payment is required before collection or transport booking.
Should an adopter choose not to proceed, the deposit is not returned. However, in the rare event Mountain Hollow Ragdolls cannot provide the kitten for reasons outside the adopter’s control, alternative arrangements or a credit toward a future litter may be offered.
Health, Veterinary Care & Documentation
Every kitten leaves our cattery following a structured veterinary schedule. Before going home, kittens have:
- first vaccination
- microchip
- parasite control
- a full veterinary health check
Kittens are also desexed prior to leaving, except in the case of approved breeding agreements. Desexing is carried out by qualified veterinarians, and documentation is provided to the adopter.
You will receive the kitten’s paperwork, microchip details, vaccination record, and supporting documents in a take-home folder. This ensures you have a complete medical history and clear next steps for future vet visits.
While we take every measure to raise strong and healthy kittens, adopters understand that animals may naturally experience health changes throughout their life. Mountain Hollow Ragdolls outlines what is covered in our Health & Vet Guarantee document (linked below) and encourages all adopters to maintain ongoing veterinary care.
Behaviour, Temperament & Settling In
Ragdolls are known for their gentle and affectionate nature. Each kitten is handled daily to help them adjust to human touch, household sounds, and social interaction.
However, temperament may vary slightly from kitten to kitten, and early weeks in the new home play a significant role in shaping behaviour.
Adopters agree to provide a calm, safe environment during the settling-in period. This includes a designated space, gradual introductions to other pets, and appropriate supervision. Mountain Hollow Ragdolls offers guidance on:
- recommended litter types
- feeding transitions
- suggested toys
- how to establish routines
We remain available to help answer questions before and after adoption. Our commitment to lifetime breeder support means you may reach out at any time for advice on behaviour, feeding, training, or cat care.
Payment Terms & Non-Refundable Deposit Policy
A written invoice or confirmation message is provided once a kitten or waiting-list position is selected. Deposits are non-refundable due to the administrative work involved and the likelihood that interest from other adopters may have been declined.
Payments may be made via the approved payment methods listed on our website or discussed during the reservation process.
Final payment must be cleared before the kitten can be collected or transported.
If an adopter fails to make the final payment by the agreed date, the reservation may be cancelled and the kitten offered to the next person on the waiting list.
Kitten Collection & Interstate Transport
Mountain Hollow Ragdolls supports safe collection and reputable transport options across Australia. Many of our kittens travel to homes interstate, and we take care to prepare them for the journey.
When arranging delivery:
- transport is booked through trusted carriers
- kittens travel in secure carriers
- all vet documents are included
- feeding instructions are provided
Transport costs are the responsibility of the adopter and must be paid prior to booking. The adopter understands that once a kitten has been legally transferred to the transport provider, responsibility for handling lies with the carrier. We take care to ensure that the kitten is handed over in excellent health and condition at the time of departure.
Adopter Responsibilities & Lifetime Support
When adopting from Mountain Hollow Ragdolls, you agree to provide:
- safe and secure housing
- regular veterinary care
- parasite control
- high-quality nutrition
- companionship and appropriate indoor living
Ragdolls thrive indoors and may not cope well with outdoor hazards, so adopters commit to keeping their kitten in a safe indoor or supervised environment.
We offer lifetime support, meaning adopters may contact us for guidance at any stage of the cat’s life. This includes questions about behaviour, diet, grooming, litter habits, and general care. Our goal is to ensure that every kitten raised by Mountain Hollow Ragdolls enjoys a happy, healthy life.
Rehoming Policy
If you are no longer able to care for your cat, we request that you contact Mountain Hollow Ragdolls. While we may not be able to take the cat back, we may assist with advice or help guide you through rehoming options. This ensures the cat’s wellbeing remains the priority.
The cat must never be surrendered to a pound or shelter without exhausting alternatives. We encourage adopters to plan ahead where possible.
